Albuquerque was the first place that they stopped overnight. They stayed at a quaint Motel 6, with an even smaller swimming pool, which Buddy took full advantage of while Joe sat in the hotel room playing "Final Fantasy 2" on Buddy's Super Nintendo.
Arriving, while Joe was behind the wheel, there was the first vague sign of potential car trouble. The car seemed to be stalling a little bit, however sometimes that is indicative of a car the is on the verge of overheating, so they felt that the stop in Albuquerque would be a good time for the car to cool down.
The next morning, after checking all of the car's fluids and filling it up with gas. Buddy and Joe were on the open road to Flagstaff.
